WeGP Annual Picnic Was Delightful
Our third annual picnic at Patterson Park was Saturday August 10, 2019. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time with friends and neighbors, new and old. Many thanks to all who came, cooked, set up and cleaned up. We hope to see you all there again next year!
A suggestion-making activity at the picnic garnered much interest and we encourage your continued suggestions for ongoing improvement in the functioning of WeGP. Submit your suggestions to: CONTACT US
America You Kill Me - WeGP Donations
As reported previously, WeGP supported a fundraising to complete the feature documentary about gay rights warrior - and Grosse Pointe South Alumnus, Jeffrey Montgomery, and the ongoing struggle for LGBTQ+ equality in the Midwest.
We offered to match donated funds dollar for dollar up to $1,000. Now that our matching funds window has closed, we are able to report that we raised $760 from our neighbors/members and WeGP donated an additional $1,000 to the ongoing production of this important film. Sincere thanks to all who contributed.

Creating Conversational Communities that Drive Change - Monthly SEED Seminars
SEED seminars include personal reflection and testimony, listening to others' voices, and learning experientially and collectively. Through this, SEED equips us to connect our lives to one another and to society at large by acknowledging systems of oppression, power, and privilege - and challenges participants to push for change.
Seminars are facilitated by SEED Leader, Sara Havlik and will meet at the Grosse Pointe Libraries (with the same cohort all year) the first Wednesday of every month from October 2019 until June 2020, 6:00-8:45pm. Pre-registration is required; space is limited. For more information, questions and/or to register: SEEDSEMINAR
Local Mobilization Matters.....
.....and so does representation on the city councils. Grosse Pointe Dems are looking for Park and Farms precinct delegates, block captains, and anyone willing to knock on a few doors this year for Park council candidates Aimee Fluitt and Vikas Relan, and Farms candidate Neil Sroka. This is a great chance to get involved in local politics!
If you're interested in helping in any of the above capacities, please contact Ed Keelean at (313) 498-2409 or eckeelean@comcast.net and tell him WeGP sent you! There will be a training session September 28 for interested parties.
