Tomorrow: Lights for Liberty, Detroit
Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Detention Camps, will bring thousands of Americans to detention camps and the streets across the country to protest the inhumane conditions faced by refugees. For more details LightsforLiberty-Detroit
We GP fully supports this event and is partnering with the Detroit sponsors; we want to get as many local people as possible to attend.
Please join us as we raise our voices, stand up and fight back against ripping children from their parents and keeping them in cages triggering trauma, abuse and neglect. Not in our name. End the camps.
The event begins in Detroit on Friday, July 12 at 6:00 pm at 333 Mt. Elliot near Jefferson, the Detroit Field Office of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations. There will be a rally, march and candle light vigil ending at 9:00 p.m. Bring your signs and candles (or lights)!
Parking and Carpooling
On site there is street parking on streets around the ICE facility and on the South side of Jefferson, but it will be challenging. We GP has organized carpooling leaving from the Christ Church Grosse Pointe parking lot (Grosse Pointe Blvd next to GP South High School) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Please come to find or offer a ride even if you have not signed up. Come early between 5:00 and 5:45 p.m. and enjoy lemonade and baked goods in support of Kids4Kids (details below).
Kids 4 Kids
