PRIDE MARCH 2019
Please plan on joining us for our family friendly 3rd Annual Grosse Pointe Pride March in support of our LGBTQ+ Neighbors on Saturday, June 22. The festivities begin at 9:30am (face painting and rally) at Grosse Pointe South High School (Fisher lot). Pride March step-off is at 10:00am. The 1.2 Mile route will end at Maire Elementary School where there will be vendors, a community picnic, choir singing, banner signing and more.
DON'T WAIT TO GET INVOLVED!
Preparations for the March are well underway, but there is still much to do. Are you creative? Do you enjoy singing? Are you curious about local shops and businesses? Do you own a local shop or business that can help support the March fundraising effort? Would you like to help but don't feel you have a special talent.....there are plenty of opportunities for all. Read on for more information:
Two Float Parties This Week
We are making even more history with this March by designing and building a float, and you can be part of it! We have people who have done both to guide us.
FLOAT PARTY 1: This first event requires no artistic genius; we will be preparing and priming foam board for the float. Tuesday, May 21, 6-8pm, 2070 Hawthorne, GPW. Please RSVP if you are coming so we know how much pizza and drinks to have ready. FLOAT PARTY 1
FLOAT PARTY 2: Help create fabulousness. At this party we will add creative fun and flair; we would love to have lots of help! Saturday, May 25, 2pm-4pm, 2070 Hawthorne, GPW. Please RSVP if you are coming so we know how much food to have ready. FLOAT PARTY 2
Two Flag and Poster Dates Next Week
One way to get to know more about local businesses is by helping us distribute Pride March posters and flags to businesses along Mack and Kercheval Avenues. For your convenience, separate days are set aside for this activity.
On Friday, May 31, meet at 11:00am at Beyond Juicery+Eatery, 21110 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods. SIGN UP - MACK AVE
On Saturday, June 1, meet at 11:00am at Posterity Framing and Print Gallery, 17005 Kercheval Ave, Grosse Pointe City. SIGN UP - KERCHEVAL AVE
Meet at O'Flaherty's Irish Pub, 15119 Charlevoix St. Grosse Pointe Park for drinks and fun after our work is done.
Become a Sponsor!
Individuals, businesses and blocks* are signing up to become sponsors of the Pride March. Bronze Sponsorships start at $100 and Gold at $500. Send us an email at email@example.com or contact CARLY COPUS for more information. All sponsorships come with Pride Flags delivered right to your door.
We will be posting an updated Pride sponsorship list very soon. It’s a fabulous group and we hope we will all use our dollars to show our support of businesses that stand for LGBTQA equality (there is already evidence on Facebook of people doing so).
After covering costs of the Pride March, funds raised will be split between OUTSERVE, a non-partisan legal services watchdog and policy organization dedicated to bringing about full LGBTQ equality to America’s military, and We GP.
*NEW this year we have our first BLOCK sponsorship- let’s hear it for the 1000 block of Balfour in GPP for their GOLD level sponsorship! We can’t wait to see all the Pride flags. Thanks to John F Martin for helping organize. How about a little friendly Pride block competition? See contact information in the first paragraph.
