We GP (Welcoming Everyone Grosse Pointe) is a thriving community organization that grew out of like-minded individuals coming together to support inclusion and a common set of guiding principles in the Grosse Pointes and surrounding communities. Since our inception as an informal group in late 2016, we have formed a 501 c(3) nonprofit organization to support our mission as an educational and advocacy organization.
Our first all volunteer board was elected in June 2017, and we have grown our paid membership to more than 150 people. We constantly strive to grow our membership and expand our diversity through outreach and alliances with our neighbors and groups that share our guiding principles. Our network reaches more than 1500 individuals through social media.
Our member-led Task Forces continue to identify and address chronic and acute issues, creating alliances with similar organizations, and hosting fundraisers, educational events, advocacy efforts and community building activities around the themes of Healthcare, Voting, Education, Environment, Civil Rights, Immigrant Rights and Women’s Rights. We’ve expanded our donors and prospects, and have several generous patrons who believe in our mission.
A recent focus of We GP has been on diversity and inclusion. As part of that goal, we’re offering community lectures, training and dialogues to help keep us open and welcoming. We’re also providing training for Get Out the Vote efforts, working in conjunction with local organizations to encourage voter education on the issues and values WeGP stands with.
We are strong, and we are growing. We always welcome your input and support. Please contact us for more information about participating with Welcoming Everyone Grosse Pointe.
